Overdose Awareness Sunrise Vigil
The Town of Scituate, Scituate Clergy, Scituate FACTS Coalition, and South Shore Peer Recovery welcome all to a service on International Overdose Awareness Day, Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 5:45am at the Old Scituate Lighthouse, 100 Lighthouse Road, Scituate Harbor. The Scituate service will acknowledge police officers, firefighters, emergency room workers, treatment providers, individuals in recovery, and members of the community groups who have been working to reduce fatal overdoses and help those who still suffer. All communities are welcome, as we remember together. Information on grief support, Narcan access, as well as treatment and recovery resources, will be available before and after the service in the resource tent in the parking lot. Rain or shine. Free and confidential Narcan is available to potential bystanders from Manet Community Health. Outreach specialist Kelsey Foley will be available immediately after the service to provide life saving info and medication. If you prefer to meet back at the recovery center, Narcan will be available there from about 6:45-7:30am. People in recovery, family members, and any potential bystanders are welcome.
